Okuma to Feature New Products at IMTS 2010Okuma to Feature New Products at IMTS 2010

July 7th, 2010

Charlotte, NC (June 10, 2010) – The Okuma booth, #S8500, will feature the new Multus B750 with 4-meter bed, the LB3000-EX MYW horizontal lathe, the new GENOS M460-VE vertical machining center and 3 automated manufacturing cells as well as a few machines never before seen in the United States.  All machines on display will be equipped with peripheral equipment, software and accessories from members of Partners in THINC.

“Every manufacturer will be able to find at least one new application or idea at the Okuma booth”, states Larry Schwartz, President and COO of Okuma America Corporation.  “We are very excited about our new products and the new technology we will be showcasing.  We believe that all IMTS attendees will find real help in the Okuma booth and will be able to use that help to improve productivity and profitability.”  Featured demonstration and display parts will come from various industries including medical, aerospace, automotive, energy/oil and construction.

The new Multus B750 is a large multi-tasking machine with a maximum turning diameter in excess of 1 meter (41.34”, 1,050mm).  The machine on display will be equipped with a big bore spindle, W sub-spindle and long boring bar option.

The new GENOS M460-VE machine marries value with high performance machining technology.  It adopts a powerful double column structure to deliver the most machining in the least floor space. Total travel measures 30” (X), 18.11” (Y) and 18.11” (Z) with a rapid traverse rate of 1574 ipm.  Standard features include a high power 40 Taper 12,000 rpm spindle with a 30/25 HP VAC liquid cooled integral motor and a 32-position ATC.  Thermal deformation is minimized with Okuma’s industry-leading TAS-C/TAS-S compensation system.

The LB-EX series of horizontal lathes sets new standards for strength, accuracy and flexibility in the 2-axis lathe category.  The IMTS featured machine will showcase the MYW capabilities and an optional hobbing function.

The M460-VE and the LB3000-EX feature the operator-friendly THINC-OSP control - a true PC, Windows-based platform with open architecture, plug and work USB capability and 40GB of memory.  This unique control makes it easy to connect to peripheral equipment and utilize other machine tool accessories, improving productivity and data gathering.

In addition to Okuma machines, members of Partners in THINC will be on hand demonstrating peripheral equipment, software and accessories.  The Okuma THINC control will be featured in the THINC area of the booth, showcasing MacMan-Net, Advanced OneTouch and other software and applications.  Representatives of the Okuma service network, Okuma CARE, will be on hand to demonstrate new technology and applications available to Okuma users.
